I'm graduating!
Laura Melton:
Your portfolio has been approved by your advisor and by the second reader and is a pass, no revisions required. Congratulations!
Seriously, I expected to have to make some sort of revision, so I'm quite pleasantly surprised and relieved.
Dorothea Salo says:
Go Laura! Go Laura! Go Laura!
Seriously, congrats!
Alita says:
Con-gra-tu-la-tions! Gonna wear a cap and gown? :)
Laurabelle says:
Thank you!
I feel rather like I'm getting away with something that I shouldn't. One hears horror stories about these portfolios, and although I didn't expect bloodshed, I didn't think I'd make it without jumping through any more hoops.
I do wonder who the Random Second Reader was.
What are your graduation requirements? Do you have to do a thesis or other graduation project?
Dorothea Salo says:
No. The way it works here is that you go out for a "practicum," at least 40 (unpaid) hours of proving that you can in fact do something useful in the wider library/archives world. This is a system of which I must say I entirely approve.
I'm doing my practicum this summer, helping the Wisconsin Historical Society re-architect its intranet.
