Mixed weekend

Some good and a lot of bad this weekend. My landlord, Pete, had a heart attack in Florida and had quadruple-bypass surgery yesterday evening. He's still alive though and was sitting up in bed today, although the attack and surgery took a lot out of him, and he's in a lot of pain. That's all I know, although my landlords' sons are being very kind and letting me know what's going on.

When Lee, the older son, was over here yesterday evening, he said that Mary had called a friend at church to have them pray for Pete, so they'd covered all the bases. I smiled at that; though I know prayer is very important for some people, it's never been something I paid particular attention to. But when I remarked on that to Jeff, he said that it was important to him, and he'd like to find a church to go to some time.

I noted that today was Sunday, so we made plans to visit the University Temple this morning. I don't know if it's just Methodism in general, or liberal Methodism, but it reminded me very much of Northaven. Greeters at the door, a lovely woman named Marion who seemed to adopt Jeff and me, and an intelligent, thought-provoking sermon. Jeff wants to go back, and I liked it too, so it looks like we'll be making a habit of it.
