Spring Fling

Mon, 2 Jun 2003

Yesterday was one of Bunstable's annual events, Spring Fling. It was a rather small but fun event, outdoors near the Waterfront Activities Center. TE Fiach and Anne-Marie were there, and there was baronial court to award the Light of St. Bunstable to this year's recipient (Gordon Redthorn) and to declare next year's Protector of St. Bunstable (Samuel of something, I can't remember! SCA is bad for people like me, because there are twice as many names to forget), who won the rapier tourney that was also held that afternoon. It wasn't all that much of a tourney, because there were only three contenders, but even that was two more than we had expected. Food and conversation were had, and Fiach and Dieter may have succeeded in recruiting some more victims for hurling practice.

That night, dinner for Jeff and me was Italian sausage, onion, and halved tomatoes, kind of fried together, with sourdough bread. I had a sudden craving for tomatoes, and this fulfilled it in a very lovely manner. I don't usually even like tomatoes very much, but I know when to listen to my body!

Lionheart's Tourney is next weekend, and I'm really looking forward to that. It means I have to get all my work done before then, but then I'll be able to party in good conscience.
