Week in review

Wed, 30 Apr 2003

Ooops, I didn't realize it's been almost a week since I wrote last. Sorry 'bout that. Well, life has accelerated somewhat in pace, largely due to my losing about 20 hours each week to KCLS. (Well, losing is a bit of an exaggeration. It's more like trading for money and experience.) Due to my more-severe lack of free time, I haven't had much time for free thinking, much less free blogging. Still, life is going extremely well.

I'm settling in well at KCLS. There's a lot to learn, and I'm not comfortable doing anything on my own yet, but it's coming along. Meg is very busy, and I feel very grateful that she's spending so much time training me, but I suppose she sees it as an investment that will pay off later, when she can let me take over some of her duties. A significant portion of my time has been devoted to Dynix, but I'm also tagging along with Meg on meetings and problem-solving missions, which is cool.

In other news, on Saturday Jeff and I went to the Medieval Horse Collegium and Clinic in Wyewood, and it was very fun. I rode for a nice while, and Jeff rode for a little bit while I tried to instruct him in steering. He got rather frustrated because he didn't understand why doing what I told him to do still didn't work; it could have been inexperience and lack of practice, or it could have been the fault of my instruction. In any case, I very much sympathize with his frustration, because the same thing happened to me. Saturday morning I put stew in the slowcooker before leaving for the horse event, so we had dinner ready when we came home, and that was lovely.

Monday afternoon I moaned to Jeff that I had class until 17:00 and an event I had to attend at 18:30. An hour and a half wasn't enough time to go home and eat dinner, and I wasn't sure what I was going to do for dinner. So he got a sort of look in his eye, and while I was in class he went home, cooked dinner, and brought it back for both of us. One way or another, Jeff and I have eaten dinner with each other every day for the last five days. Much of our interaction seems to be pushing food at the other, though I suppose I do a bit more of the pushing than he does because he's a bottomless pit. Oh will you still need me, will you still feed me...

A few weeks ago Jeff and I started running around Greenlake together. At first we ran a couple of times a week, but since I started working last week, it has become harder. But we're going to keep trying, because it seems to be doing us good. He feels the difference in running after the bus, and I just know I feel and sleep better when I get exercise.

Oh, by the way, I've been elected ASIS&T Web Deity for 2003-04. Go me.
