So we're going to war Real Soon Now. Although Bush talks about Saddam's leaving the country, I think Kevin is right. Even supposing that he's willing to exile himself, where's he supposed to go? So he won't leave, and that means we're going to war.
Ironically I went to two peace protests yesterday at Green Lake, the first two that I've both known about been able to attend, for one reason or another. First I went with Mary (my landlady) and her son Lee in the afternoon, and there were enough people there to encircle the whole of Green Lake (2.8 miles). Lots of support from cars driving by; we only saw one guy making a polite thumbs-down sign. Later in the evening Jeff and I went to a candlelight vigil; we walked around the lake with lit candles and dripped wax on ourselves, because it was windy, and I hadn't thought about that ahead of time. There were a lot of people there that time too, though not as many as in the afternoon.
The frustrating thing about all this is that I feel so helpless. There is nothing I can do to change the path my country is taking. I feel betrayed by the democratic system I was taught to believe in.
Maybe I'll just go back to being in denial.

Here's a nice article about Seattle peace protests on Sunday.
