Amazon.com as a library catalog?

Mon, 20 Jan 2003

These days, lots of people use Amazon.com as a sort of universal book catalog. For example, I have used it to search for books on programming and web development. However, a new tool called LibraryLookup can make it easier to search your local library catalog for books that you find on Amazon.com! Simply find your library in the LibraryLookup lists and drag its bookmarklet to the toolbar of your web browser. When you find a book you want on Amazon.com, click the bookmarklet, and it will search your library's catalog and tell you if the book is available. It doesn't get easier than this!

I know I am not the only person who often uses Amazon.com and other sites this way, but I wonder what their reaction will be if many people start using these bookmarklets.
